Thar she doesn't blow
Currently I'm addicted to playing Puzzle Pirates. An online game that involves puzzles and, you guessed it, pirates.

I don't play games online much, because they're nearly all FPS or stratagy games and, well, I kinda suck at them. This game , however, has so many different games (fighting, drinking, sailing, bilging, caprpenting, brawling, distilling, ....you get the idea) that there's bound to be one or two everyone will like and can get good at. There's so much more to this game, but this post is sound too much like an advert already.

Now, although it's a subscription thing, you don't have to pay (but you will be slightly limited as to what you can do) you can just download the client and away you go. I will say though, it's going properly live on Monday so that might change. Untill then you can swash your buckle to your hearts content.
Rap Lyrics Translated for Old People
Rap Lyrics Translated:
"Oddly enough, when I visit the Native American reservations, some of the more sexually promiscuous Indian women attempt to seduce me in their homes. Their intent is to divest me of my earnings. Such actions are unacceptable."
Best Mugshot Ever?
We've featured many police mugshots courtesy of the smokinggun website but this photo of John Huffman with the words 'I Suck' written over his forehead has to be one of my favourites so far.

Not All Americans Are Stupid Quiz
The idea of this quiz is supposedly to prove that Not All Americans Are Stupid. Unfortunately, it seems to be backfiring at the moment as they're lagging behind the rest of the world. Go and do your bit for National stereotyping.
Hamlet - The Text Adventure
I'm full of admiration for anyone who can be bothered to code long text adventure games - Hamlet - The Text Adventure is just that. Robin Johnson has made a full retro game based on the Shakespeare play and damn good it is too. It helps if you didn't fall aslepp in every English lesson at school
Da Fly Guyz
The first goodie from the B3ta newsletter brings us a cool little animation called Da Fly Guyz by David Homfray. Funny & good artwork - nice one.
nippaz with attitude
Fantastic site for anyone after a Christmas present for small children or their parents - nippaz with attitude do a superb range of kiddie clothes that aren't your usual high-street wear. I've just ordered a Fight the Power babygrow & some Love/Hate mittens so I'm gonna have the coolest baby around.
(full marks for their excellent customer service as well.)
Ancient fossilised c0ck discovered
Scientists in Britain have discovered a fossil of a 425 million year old creature which has the oldest pen1s on record. Unfortunately the creature is only 5mm in length but the scientists clearly have a sense of humour as they've called it Colymbosathon ecplecticos, which means 'amazing swimmer with a large peni5.'
The 'Real' Big Conversation
The Labour party have been making big noises about their new attempt at 'communicating with the people', a website and roadshow entitled 'Big Conversation'. I thouhgt this was pretty innovative for a political party these days until I got a mail this morning from a close friend.
Here's what he said;
The site 'the big conversation' was set up by a friend of ours, Jamie, two years ago, and after having done some research for the government earlier this year Blair has blatantly ripped off the concept launching his own big conversation site last week.
One amusing side effect is that Jamie's site is far better indexed in the search engines and is now enjoying vast amounts of traffic. The benefit of his site is that it's NOT censored and promotes the sorts of conversations we really have and want to have.
I've not come across such a blatant rip-off by a political party since the Florida elections in America. Tony's just lost my vote to the Liberals.

360 degree panorama of Mt. Everest
We've posted this site before but I've just found this beautiful panorama of Mt. Everest. 'Top of the World, Ma!'
Cynthia P Caster - celbrity plastercaster
Cynthia Plaster Caster is a world-famous creator of plaster-cast molds of celebrity genitals. She's been making casts of rock stars' dicks since 1968 but don't call her a groupie - her work was initially funded by Frank Zappa.
(Site NSFW) (also, can anyone settle an arguement - is the correct description of Cynthia a 'plastercasterer' - it just doesn't sound right!)
Tribute Bands - Curse of the Office Party
Xmas, the time of year for Office Parties. Every office party needs it's own crappy Tribute Band - but unfortunately, for every Bjorn Again or Australian Doors, there's an 'Abba Dream' or a 'Stink 182'. Which is why I never, ever go to office parties.
Google fun
Some more Google fun to follow from the 'French Military Victories'.
Go to Google
Type “miserable failure” into the search box
Hit “I’m feeling lucky”
Enjoy.
Shooting round corners
I was wondering how long I'd have to wait for a gun that shoots around corners. It's all very ACME.

Watch this animation and see how long it takes you to work out exactly what the Magic Cone is for. (Possibly NSFW)

Travelog :: Online Travel Diary Hosting
Here's a great idea for those of you lucky enough to be able to travel on a year out. Travelog is an online travel diary service which you can sign up to and use as a space to post newsletters and photos that all your friends and family can see. If nothing else, it'll save you a fortune in postcards.

Flip Flap
Goddamn! This game is hard. After five minutes of playing Flip Flap I realised that I hadn't blinked once. Brilliant!
Sheep Honking the Blue Danube
I don't know what it's like where you live, but round this way our sheep don't honk the Blue Danube. I think the world might be a better place if they did though.
Paul's Pockets : Touchy Feely Cursor Quiz
Another old favourite is Monkeon who's come up with a game called Paul's Pockets. The idea is to move your mouse over a blacked-out image and try to 'feel' what the picture is. It's damn hard but very satisfying when you get one right (except I only got one right).
Fear the kittens
I've just realised that I haven't posted a link to the new musical kitten video by Joel (of rathergood.com fame). This time the kittens take on German industrial band Laibach's 'Tanz Mit Laibach'.
Joel's been a busy boy lately, UK readers can catch more of his rathergood videos at 12.30 Wednesday nights on Channel 4.
Playstation 3 pics
The Register has got a story about a Playstation 3 "concept image".
It's niiiiiice, but almost certainly fake, if not it'll probably change before release (remember the XBox concept?). I wish it wasn't, I'd like that sat under my TV.
Nintendo Origami
If you've got some spare time over Christmas and you really, really can't find anything better to do to entertain your younger relatives, why not try some of these, cut out, fold and glue together these Nintendo origami figures. Bet the Pikmin one looks awful in real life.

Space Invader Wallpaper
Being the insufferable nerd that I am, I was really drawn to ThinkGeek's Space Invaders stickers - I reckon they'd make an ideal alternative to my soon-to-be born child's bedroom.
Other cool stuff I want from Thinkgeek includes one of these shirts, this tuba light from the original creators of the lava lamp, and these silly Blue LED feet for your pc.
Mr. Picassohead
If you like Picasso but haven't the money to buy your own then why not fake it with Mr. Picassohead.
The Sinatra Number Theory
Mathematicians have developed a new adveanced number theory - The Sinatra Number Theory.
Sinatra numbers, like pure numbers are not easily understood by mere mortals, but given the intellect level on this site I thought you may actually understand this.
According to top mathematicians, the best-known example of a pure sinatra number is 14,991,338,361,953,636,352, although partial sinatra numbers are known to exist too. Sinatra numbers are one of nature's wonders, having special and unusual properties that make them unlike non-sinatra numbers. To investigate these properties, you need to display the sinatra number in hexadecimal format.
Run Windows Calculator, click View, Scientific and select the 'Dec' radio button. Enter the sinatra number (copy and paste works) and then click the 'Hex' radio button to see the transformation.
Aren't numbers great?!
The 12 STIs Of Christmas
If you're going to play the field and have a drunbken Christmas then you may want to watch this funny cautionary tale of the 12 STIs Of Christmas.
