More ASCII video
A while ago we blogged a site which had various videos rendered in ASCII, this is a step on from that.
VLC is a nifty (and simple) little program for streaming video/audio across a network, but the bloke who wrote it has now writen an extra bit, that will convert any DVD/DViX/Mpeg2/TV input (read GAMES)/etc into 16 colour ASCII art.

Totally usless, but it's ASCII art and as a GromBlog reader you know ASCII art is cool. Don't you?

Ketchup as a Vegetable
I'm posting this to settle a bet with one of my friends - it's the proof that Ronald Reagan's government attempted to reclassify Ketchup as a vegetable in a bid to make school dinners cheaper since it would then satisfy the federal rules on vegetable content on government-provided meals.
On a similar note, whilst looking for this proof I found this story claiming that about 5 years ago, the US government are at it again - they've now reclassified Salsa dip as a vegetable!

EJ VJ DJ
The EJ VJ DJ is another item on my long list of unrealistic Christmas presents. It's a midi controller for videos in the shape of a vinyl deck, in other words you can scratch videos and mix them up just like 12" records. Very cool indeed.

Eclectic Method
I know we have a rule about repeating links but I wanted to make an exception by posting Eclectic Method again. They're one of the best video mash-up artists I've seen and I've just had a mail from them about this site so I'm in a good mood. Go and suck up their bandwidth by downloading all their cool vids.

Rapidly becoming a cult favourite is this site full of flash files & screensavers based on old British Tv station idents and test cards. Go have a look - it's a lot cooler than I make it sound. Honest.

Instant cut-up bootlegs
This is truly superb! I love the mash-up, cut-up bootlegs of songs people like cassetteboy, freelance hellraiser, Bit Meddler, Osymyso et al create and I've just stumbled across 'Let them sing it for you' - it's a simple idea that must have been a nightmare to setup - type in some lyrics and it'll play you back the words as snippets from songs in it's database.
Absolute genius.
