Celebrities and their Amiga
Ahh, the good old days.
It wasn't just nerds who had Amigas, some
celebrities had them too. (why is Jakki Brambles mentioned above Arthur C Clarke?)
DMX Dogwear
Rapper DMX has a new clothing range out...
...for
dogs.
featuring cell phone pockets and added bling bling. Wonder if he misunderstood the request to dress some bitches?
Starwars tattoos
Tattoo or Shattoo? You decide with this collection of
Star Wars, Transformers and GI Joe tattoos.
(I know what I think!)
Skype - p2p telephony
It's been a long time coming to the mainstream but finally there is a simple way for pc-illiterate people to make free phonecalls across the internet.
Skype works very similarly to ICQ, MSN messenger, AIM etc and all you need is a microphone & headphone combination. I know that this has been possible previously with netmeeting, Roger Wilco, Battlecom but they weren't as simple as this program and the interface should be familiar to most people. It's written by the people who wrote Kazaa (but this doesn't have spyware as far as I can tell) and it's FREE.
And talking of geeks...
This one's for Grom and his following of the race for California State Governor: she's a
geek and proud of it. Brains, beauty and leadership too.
World's most intelligent geek
Slashdot brings news of the world's most intelligent geek - he knows
Total Configuration Management, about
Spanish data centres,
Windows mail servers,
Open source server management and
SCO server authentication.
He doesn't even seem stressed considering he must spend all day flying over the world.
RIAA demonstrate utter stupidity yet again
This news article is unintentionally hilarious - according to this
news story the RIAA seem determined to lose all remaining shreds of credibility by saying they won't sue anyone who deletes all illegal mp3s from their pc, destroys all illegal cds and (get this)
promise not to upload such material in the future. Every person in your home will then have to sign a notarized form (for which you'll have to pay for a notary public to countersign it) and send it to them with photo id.
erm, yeah, right. I'd love to see exactly how many people do this!
drawgirl
Nice
animated gif of a drawing of a girl.

This is just
wrong
Odd Bike Request
A while ago, when I first guested here (Grom was off being exotic somewhere), I mentioned a plan to build a
recumbent bike and was instructed to post any details here. Well the project has started, and although there's not much to show yet, there is some details on
My web site. (See "Other Bits" - "Recumbent").
We now return you to your regular programming :-)
Aquada amphibious car
Even though I live in a fairly land-locked part of Britain, I still want an
Aquada amphibious car - I'm sure I can find a canal somewhere near here. 100 mph on land and 30 mph on water - wonder if you can get done for drunk driving on a river?
Golden Swallow club
What would happen if CE Airlines'
Golden Swallow club linked up with
poo.uk.com travel company?
The mind boggles.

Lego RPG
Very nicely done RPG filmed using
lego. I'm impressed by this one - it may look simple but there's obviously been a lot of time spent on it (and it's lego therefore it has geek-chic)
Amusingly named Amercians
Having received a piece of spam this morning from the excellently named 'Gay Ponce' we went looking for more of the same. We instantly found an old classic from Novell -
Randy Bender but then we were trumped by a genius find of
Helmut Rasch - took me a second to get that one but can't stop laughing now. Poor guy.
How rich are you?
Generally, most of us don't feel that rich - how many of us have a mansion, private pool and limo etc? Well, in the grand scheme of things we're a lot richer than we think. Use this
tool to find out how rich you are. (According to this, I'm the 54,962,765th richest person in the world. Not bad out of a population of 6 billion! - oh wait, here comes the guilt.....)

sub 64k Vid
This has been about for a while, but I've only just discovered it.
This .exe, when run, displays 8 or 9 3D scene fly thoughs, with full soundtrack, packed into just under
64kb.
For the geeks out there:
The amount of data it produces while running means it's got a compression ratio of about 30,000:1!
Genius of the Year award
The Genius of the Year award this year is almost certainly guaranteed to be
this guy for his attempt at nicking a criminal tracking system. I can only hope he didn't know what it was.
(cheers bruv!)
TV Ark
TV Ark is a brilliant resource - it's an
online museum of British television. The site is so useful at settling arguements about old tv shows that I reckon there should be a compulsory net connection in every British pub so that you can reach the site in time before that discussion about what the name of the planet in the cult gameshow 'The Adventure Game' was descends into fisticuffs.
(It was Arg in case you cared!).
Dear Future Me...
Send a mail to your future self using
FutureMe.org - it's just a shame that you can't do it the other way - you'd make a killing on gambling and Wall Street.

Robert Anton Wilson For Governor
Lucky I'm not a Californian. If I was, I'd be having major trauma now deciding whether to vote for
Georgy or
Robert Anton Wilson. I've already discounted
Arnie for being too, well, stupid and right-wing. Gary Coleman (you know, the little guy from D'ffrent Strokes. Oh come on you do know him - "Watchu talking 'bout Willis" - him!) was also discounted for not having a website I could find.
After careful consdieration, I reckon I'd pick Georgy due to Robert Anton Wilson's prediliction for guns - that and the fact that he wouldn't have time to write any more of his marvellous
books.
gossip alert
Does anyone have any info on this?
I've just been informed that the cast of Lord of the Rings is in my area doing some filming. I'd love to have this verified and to find out what they are filming for since the production of the Ring trilogy was completed months ago. It seems that the cast is the same os the LOTR trilogy and they are expected to be in the area for another couple of months (my informant was offered a job on set). The gossip says that they are busy filming in the old High Royds hospital in Menston, Bradford. High Royds itself is a place with a lot of history and was quite an infamous mental care hospital until the Tories atrocious 'Care in the Community' scheme. If they are filming there then they have my deepest sympathies - I once spent an 'interesting' time filming a pop video in the old abandoned Friern Barnet metal hospital and it was a thoroughly scary place.
Tribble or Bunny?
Can you tell if these are Tribbles or
bunnies? They certainly don't look right!
Jane's Addiction UK tour
Yay! Jane's Addiction have announced details of their first
UK tour in 12 years. Tickets are pricey but it should be well worth it.
